Simple first, detailed when needed

How Fiction Continuity Tools works

Get one answer with two dates, or build a structured series project without handing your story to a hosted writing platform.

1. Choose quick use or project mode

The quick calculators require no setup. Project mode adds a series, books, chapters, characters, events, relationships and pregnancies only as needed.

2. Choose your timeline

Use real dates, Story Years such as Year 1 and Year 12, or approximate positions such as Spring of Year 6. The system preserves uncertainty rather than inventing false precision.

3. Enter each fact once

A character belongs to the series and can appear in many books. A chapter keeps a permanent internal identity even when its visible number changes from Chapter # to Chapter 14.

4. Let the tool calculate consequences

Adding a new event updates character ages. Adding a child connects the birth to later books. Changing a date can surface possible conflicts involving age, parentage, pregnancy timing or chapter order.

5. Save on your side

The project file is stored in a location you choose and control. The site does not keep a server-side project copy and cannot recover a lost file.
